Gableridge Obedience Classes: 

prinag2I believe that Dogs can learn appropriate and desirable behaviours without the use of force and punishment. Using positive techniques you can not only teach your dog the behaviours you want but you can create a dog that is thinking about ways to offer you behaviors that will be rewarded.

Dogs participating in Obedience classes must be at least 16 weeks of age and up to date on rabies and routine vaccinations. Details of upcoming classes can be found below.  You may register for classes by filling out the online form.

Class 1: Clicker training Basics

Clicker basics will provide you with a basic understanding of clicker based, positive reinforcement techniques and how to use them to shape behaviours.
In these classes you will learn how to get started with clicker why it works, what it can do and how to use it to shape basic behaviours.

*Note Dogs entered in this class must be well adjusted. No aggressive dogs or dogs with aggression issues are allowed.

 Class 2: Basic Good Manners (Class 1: Clicker training Basics is a pre-requisite)

This Class helps you to teach your dog the fluencies that form the basic foundation of general "good manners" . This includes sit, down, come when called, loose leash walking, and leave it.

*Note Dogs entered in this class must be well adjusted. No aggressive dogs or dogs with aggression issues are allowed.

Thursday 6:30pm for 45 minutes. $150 for 6 weeks

 

Class 3: Becoming a Canine Good Neighbor 

This class builds on fluencies learned in Basic Good Manners. Dogs and handlers will work to refine the behaviours needed to pass all 12 tests which form part of the Canine Good Neighbor Certificate.

*Note Dogs entered in this class must be well adjusted. No aggressive dogs or dogs with aggression issues are allowed.

A min. of 4 students will be required for this class to be held.  

Canine good Neighbor event has been scheduled for July 23, 2016 in Loretto, Ont and  September 10, 2016 in Arnprior 

 

NOTE: Price of classes includes registration for the CGN evaluation being held July 23 in Loretto, Ont, or Sept 10 in Arnprior. 

 

Saturday Morning 11:30 am  for 45 minutes.

$130 for 6 weeks

 

Conformation Show Handling Classes:

Oscar1All Breed conformation/show handling classes offered at Gableridge, range from classes for the beginner handler to classes for the experienced handler with a new dog to train. Classes are held out of doors and start in the spring as soon as the snow is gone or maybe a little earlier Keep an eye on this page and on the our facebook page. These classes offer a great opportunity to work with new puppies, socialize and get ready for the coming show season.
